mainly do audit work but I have also done compilations
and tax returns. |

went to school full time and I worked at a small
accounting firm part time.

are your career aspirations? |
I
attended on-campus interviews, researched positions
on the internet and sent out lots of resumes.
I plan to pass the CPA exam and work at an accounting
firm for a few years. |
| What kinds of people do well in this business? |
People
who do well in this business are not afraid to
ask questions. Someone who is friendly and personable
would do well also.

| What do you really like about your job? |
I
enjoy learning about different industries and
how businesses operate. I also enjoy the flexible
hours. During busy season, I am expected to work
hard but the rest of the year is more relaxed
and it is never difficult to ask for time off.

Busy
season is rough. We are expected to work more
hours during the week and on Saturday.

The
biggest misconception is that accountants are
dull and boring.

had done differently? |
I
wish I had started my job search earlier in my
school career.

| How can someone get a job like yours? |
Someone
interested in an accounting position should study
accounting in college, start their job search
early and attend on-campus recruiting events.
