Physician Payment Update
Last evening
both the House of Representatives (383 - 41) and the Senate (70 –
26) overwhelmingly overrode President Bush’s veto of H.R. 6331, the
Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act, which
reverses the 10.6% decrease in the Medicare reimbursement to Medicare providers
which became effective July 1, 2008. It also halted the projected 5.4% cut
for 2009 and provides for an additional 1.1% increase in Medicare reimbursement
effective January 1, 2009.
