Compilation & Review Manager

Job Description/Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager will work closely with staff and clients with regard to annual Compilation (Full Disclosure) and Reviews of Financial Statements, with an emphasis on the following sectors: Technology, Manufacturing/Distribution, Real Estate, Retail, and International Companies.

Supervise accounting staff that assist clients on a monthly and/or quarterly basis to support these clients’ financial reporting process. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Primary contact with client to schedule upcoming engagements
  • Communicate with partners, staff, and clients regarding expectations, status of engagements, and other matters as needed
  • Training of staff on accounting requirements, presentation and documentation
  • Train, mentor, and supervise staff and senior accountants
  • Provide ongoing advice and support to clients on accounting matters
  • Prepare supporting workpapers for engagements or review those prepared by staff
  • Preparation of financial statements (both GAAP and OCBOA-Tax basis) or review of those prepared by others
  • Perform month-end closing procedures to clients records
  • Participate in staff evaluations and personnel decisions
  • Communicate status of engagements with tax preparers and facilitate gathering of documents needed for tax return preparation
  • Proactively interact with key client management to gather information and make recommendations for business and process improvements

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • 5+ years RECENT public accounting (prefer local or regional)
  • BS degree in accounting
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Technical accounting skills
  • Strong software skills (proficiency in Excel and understanding of Quickbooks is required)
  • Experience preparing or reviewing full disclosure financial statements
  • CaseWare or other audit software experience a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to travel on a regular basis to local clients

Senior Tax Accountant

The senior tax accountant will work closely with clients and firm personnel to ensure tax engagements are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Clients are primarily involved in manufacturing and distribution, high-tech, and service industries.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Prepare year-end tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals
  • Review tax returns prepared by staff and communicate necessary corrections
  • Perform tax planning and tax projections for clients
  • Perform tax research on various issues
  • Maintain close communications with clients and participate in scheduling client engagements
  • Correspond with the IRS and various state and local taxing agencies
  • Maintain close communications with managers and partners relating to the status of tax engagements
  • Train, mentor, and supervise staff accountants
  • Perform the broadest range of accountant tasks so that direct participation of managers and partners is kept to a minimum

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Undergraduate and/or Masters degree in Accounting
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Masters Degree in Taxation a plus
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax laws
  • Ability to apply general and specific tax knowledge for all types of entities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients and co-workers
  • Strong decision making skills, self starter, ability to work independently, ability to meet time constraints and deadlines, and willingness to lead
  • CCH or other tax software experience
  • Experience with tax research and tax projection software (CCH, RIA, BNA, etc)
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • CaseWare or other audit software experience a plus
  • Experience dealing with international clients a plus

Tax Managers and Senior Managers

The Tax Manager will manage multiple tax engagements and work closely with clients and firm personnel to assure the engagements are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Clients are primarily involved in manufacturing and distribution, high-tech, and service industries.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Communicate with partners, staff, and clients regarding expectations, status of engagements, and other matters as needed
  • Provide clients with complete and accurate work in an efficient and timely manner based on agreed upon budgets and time expectations
  • Function as a buffer between partners and clients for on-going matters
  • Schedule and assign work to staff, monitor progress of work to meet time constraints and client deadlines
  • Anticipate problem areas of engagements and questions that will arise, analyze problems, and recommend solutions
  • Review corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns prepared by staff and senior accountants. Prepare tax returns when necessary.
  • Perform tax research on various issues
  • Consult with clients on tax planning and special projects
  • Train, mentor, and supervise staff and senior accountants
  • Participate in staff evaluations and personnel decisions
  • Manage work-in-process and prepare bills for clients
  • Participate in administrative activities that benefit the Firm (i.e. participation on committees, training, networking, recruiting, etc.)

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Undergraduate and/or Masters degree in Accounting
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Masters Degree in Taxation a plus
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in public accounting/tax
  • Must have demonstrated a progression in complexity, scope, and number of engagements managed
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax laws required
  • Strong analysis skills in relation to financial statements and other financial information
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with clients and co-workers
  • Strong decision making skills, self starter, ability to work independently, ability to meet time constraints and deadlines, and willingness to lead

Staff Accountant

Job Description/Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant will work closely with clients to perform write up work on a monthly or quarterly basis and act as a bookkeeper or controller for a number of clients. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform month-end closing procedures to clients records
  • Provide ongoing advice and support to clients on accounting matters
  • Prepare supporting workpapers for month end closing including bank reconciliations, fixed asset schedules, etc.
  • Prepare corporate, partnership and individual tax returns
  • Proactively interact with key client management to gather information and make recommendations for business and process improvements

The ideal candidate wll possess the following:

  • 2+ years RECENT public accounting (prefer local or regional)
  • BS degree in accounting
  • CPA exam candidate (must have requirements to sit for exam)

Audit Manager

Job Description/Responsibilities

The Audit Manager will manage multiple audit engagements from the planning stage to the issuance of the financial statements in the following industries: manufacturing and distribution, high-tech, and service industries. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Prepare audit planning including work plan, budget, scheduling, and staffing
  • Proactively interact with partners, seniors, staff and clients to complete audit in the most efficient manner and with the highest quality
  • Technical review of audit workpapers and assistance with drafting the financial statements
  • Research complex accounting issues
  • Maintain strong client relations and cross-sell services to other areas of the firm
  • Mentor and train seniors and staff for potential manager responsibilities and provide career guidance
