Partners
Gene
is a partner in the Tax group of Habif, Arogeti & Wynne,
LLP. His 31-year career in public accounting began with
Arthur Andersen & Company where he worked in a variety
of tax areas involving both public and private companies.
Prior to obtaining his masters degree in professional accountancy
and entering the profession, his work experience included
commercial banking with C&S National Bank (now Bank
of America) and three years of military service in the U.
S. Marine Corps. Gene joined Miller Ray Houser & Stewart,
LLP in 1986 after seven years with Arthur Andersen. In 2007,
Miller Ray Houser & Stewart merged with Habif, Arogeti
& Wynne, LLP.
During
his career in public accounting, he has specialized in taxation
and has had extensive experience in structuring business
transactions and in tax and financial planning for businesses
and individuals. Additional areas of expertise are in partnerships
and limited liability companies, S-corporations, estate
& gift taxation, U.S. taxation of foreign entities,
IRS and state tax controversies, and business valuation
work. In addition to being a CPA, Gene is also a Certified
Valuation Analyst. He has extensive experience in the real
estate industry as well.
Currently,
Gene’s focus is on “Green Incentives”
provided by recent tax law changes. He has had experience
in this area with hydrogen fuel cell projects and solar
projects, and continues to expand the HA&W technology
practice.
Gene
attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and obtained
a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. He
also received a Masters degree in Accountancy from Georgia
